Before we get started on the incredible village and its history, have a look at this lovely villa for sale in Italy. It’s got 73m² and… wait for it… a courtyard.Did we mention the views?
Oh yes…. nice, right?
This villa is about 70m² over 2 floors, not including the 20m² courtyard, with nice open space on the ground floor. We love the fireplace, the thick stone whitewashed walls and did we mention the views?
Yes, yes, yes, we know it needs work, we know it needs to be modernized, we know it’s not picture perfect inside….
But the potential is here…. the high ceilings, the fireplace, those gorgeous floors. It has water & electric and needs a kitchen banged in to get started. The bathroom isn’t amazing, but it’s there and it’s a good start!
The original terracotta floors are in super condition and worth keeping, we just love them.
Yeah, looks like the painters got a bit sloppy with the handrails there though.

These fortifications were built using the typical Roman technique of “polygonal walls”, an imposing building technique adopted in the north-west of the city with the function of terracing and the aim of bridging the unevenness of the ground, characterized by blocks of stone interlocking one with the other without the use of mortar.
“in the Municipality of Lugnano, near the “Fosso Porcianese”, we encounter a massive polygonal wall, the magnitude of which is 44.00 meters long, while its height varies between 0.50 and 2.10 meters, the thickness reaches 3.00 meters”
Umbrian agriculture is noted for its tobacco, olive oil and vineyards, which produce excellent wines. Regional varietals include the white Orvieto, which draws agri-tourists to the vineyards in the area surrounding the medieval town of the same name. A notable wine is the Grechetto of Todi. Other noted wines produced in Umbria are Torgiano and Rosso di Montefalco. The Umbrian wineries are at the center of the “Cantine Aperte” or “Open Cellars” event, when local wine makers open their wineries to the public. Another typical Umbrian product is the black truffle found in Valnerina, an area that produces 45% of this product in Italy.
The food industry in Umbria produces processed pork-meats, confectionery, pasta and the traditional products of Valnerina in preserved form (truffles, lentils, cheese).
